Marlins-Rockies washed out by rain

Published Apr. 23, 2010 10:19 p.m. ET

Heavy rains forced the postponement of Friday night's game between the Colorado Rockies and Florida Marlins.

The teams will make up the game as part of a regular doubleheader Saturday set to start at 3:05 p.m. The second game will start approximately 20 minutes after the conclusion of the first.

It was the first game rained out this season. Not since 1985 had baseball gone this long into a season without losing a game to inclement weather.

Marlins manager Fredi Gonzalez and Rockies manager Jim Tracy said they would maintain the same schedule for their pitchers. Friday night's starters, Greg Smith (1-1) of the Rockies and Ricky Nolasco (1-0) of the Marlins, will open the front end of the double header. Colorado's Aaron Cook (0-2) will face Florda's Nate Robertson (2-0) in the nightcap.
