MILWAUKEE (AP) The Marlins placed right-hander David Phelps on the 15-day disabled list Monday after he was pulled due to elbow discomfort Sunday.

Miami also selected the contract of right-hander Erik Cordier from Triple-A New Orleans.

Phelps was pulled in the bottom of the third inning, one pitch after allowing his second home run of the game to Cardinals outfielder Jason Heyward. The 28-year-old is 4-8 with a 4.50 ERA in 23 appearances (19 starts) this season. He has allowed 10 runs over 6 2/3 innings in his last two starts combined.

Cordier was signed to a minor league deal earlier this month after being released by the Giants. The 29-year-old has a 1.26 ERA in 38 appearances in the minors this year, mostly at Triple-A.
