Korean slugger Ah-seop Son posted by Lotte Giants, bids due Friday
On Monday, it was announced that Korean outfielder Ah-seop Son has been 'posted' by the Lotte Giants of the Korean Baseball Association.
According to the Yonhap News Agency, interested MLB organizations will have four days to submit bids for the services of the 27-year-old slugger.
In 116 games for the Lotte Giants in 2015, Son hit .317 with 13 home runs, 54 RBI and 11 stolen bases. For his career, Son owns a .323 batting average and led the entire KBO in hits in each of the 2012 and 2013 seasons.
Much in the same manner in which Korean star Byung-ho Park was put up for bid weeks ago (with the Minnesota Twins winning the rights to negotiate), clubs interested in the chance of negotiating with Son will submit their bids this week. If the Giants accept the highest bid offered, that MLB club will then have an exclusive 30-day window with which to negotiate a contract with Son.
