Jays' Johnson scratched from start

Published Apr. 26, 2013 1:00 a.m. ET

The news isn't getting any better for the Toronto Blue Jays.

Off to a disappointing 9-14 start that has them last in the American League East, the Jays announced Friday that Josh Johnson won't pitch tonight against the New York Yankees because of right triceps tightness.

Left-hander Aaron Laffey, recently claimed on waivers from the New York Mets, will take Johnson's place.

Johnson, one of the Jays' major offseason acquisitions, is 0-1 with a 6.86 ERA in four starts for Toronto this year.
