Daniel Hudson signs minor league deal with Arizona

Published Dec. 14, 2013 1:53 a.m. ET

Injured pitcher Daniel Hudson has signed a minor league contract that returns him to the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Hudson is recovering from his second ''Tommy John'' reconstructive elbow surgery and has not pitched since the middle of the 2012 season.

He reinjured the elbow in a minor league rehab assignment last July.

Hudson was arbitration eligible but the Diamondbacks declined to tender him an offer, making him a free agent.

The 26-year-old right-hander is 28-17 with a 3.68 ERA in four major league seasons.

Arizona also signed 42-year-old catcher Henry Blanco to a minor league contract. He was with the Diamondbacks in 2011-20012.
