D-backs manager Hale seeks more production behind Goldschmidt
After Wednesday’s loss in Los Angeles, Diamondbacks manager Chip Hale acknowledged that the team needs more production out of the cleanup spot behind Paul Goldschmidt. Per The Arizona Republic:
“[Yasmany] Tomas has done a pretty good job for a rookie," Hale said. “David [Peralta] at times has done a good job. But, yeah, we need some more production out of them. … I like Tomas in the four hole, but he has to produce a little more to stay there.”
Tomas is batting .370 in the fourth spot in the lineup, but with only seven RBIs. Although Tomas was touted as a power-hitter, the right-hander has only hit two home runs so far. Wednesday offered some promise as Tomas hit the second of those two homers, the first while batting fourth. He was also robbed of another by Dodgers center fielder Joc Pederson.
