SEATTLE (AP) Chicago White Sox outfielder Adam Eaton left Friday night's game against the Seattle Mariners in the first inning with soreness in his rib cage after grounding out to start the game.

Eaton didn't even make it to first base on a ground ball leading off the game. Eaton fouled off a number of pitches then hit a grounder to third baseman Kyle Seager on the ninth pitch. Eaton slowly jogged up the line before walking back to the dugout.

Eaton was replaced by Leury Garcia in the bottom of the first.

Eaton left Wednesday's home game with a lower back bruise after crashing into the outfield fence. He sat out Thursday's series opener in Seattle.
