The St. Louis Cardinals and right-handed pitcher Kyle McClellan have agreed on a one-year deal, avoiding arbitration. Terms were not disclosed.

The team announced the agreement Tuesday. The 27-year-old McClellan was 6-6 with a 4.21 ERA in 17 starts last season, stepping in for the injured Adam Wainwright. He was also 6-1 in 26 relief appearances for the World Series champions.

In his four major league seasons, McClellan is 19-22 with a 3.61 ERA.
