ST. LOUIS (AP) The Atlanta Braves have activated first baseman Freddie Freeman from the 15-day disabled list but he was not in the lineup against the Cardinals because he was traveling and not expected to land in St. Louis until close to game time.

Freeman was placed on the DL on June 23, retroactive to June 15, with a right wrist contusion. He played in one rehab game, going 2 for 4 with a homer and three RBIs for the Braves' Gulf Coast affiliate.

The Braves totaled 83 runs in the 30 games Freeman missed, an average of 2.8 per game, and went 13-17 in his absence.

Freeman was batting .299 with 12 homers and 41 RBIs.

Atlanta also recalled infielder Daniel Castro and outfielder Adonis Garcia from Triple-A Gwinnett. It's the second call-up this season for both players.

Castro hit a combined .300 in 89 games at Double-A Mississippi and Gwinnett. Garcia batted .284 for Gwinnett.
