Yankees’ Girardi sarcastically responds to MLB’s possible restriction on relief pitchers

Joe Girardi, not a fan of the latest idea for reducing the length of games.

At a press conference on Thursday, a reporter informed New York Yankees manager Joe Girardi that MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred said in an interview that the league was exploring a restriction on the usage of relief pitchers as a means of shortening games.

Manfred made the remarks on ESPN’s Mike & Mike:

As if Girardi doesn’t have enough problems with his roster, the league might interfere with his ability to manage his team’s biggest strength — the bullpen. (Well see how things unfold at the trade deadline).

Someone get Girardi a drink. Maybe a shot of Seagram’s 7.
