Aaron Rodgers gave Darius Slay some love after Packers-Lions game

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers might be the best player in the NFL, so people listen when he has something say. Detroit Lions cornerback Darius Slay, for example, heard Rodgers loud and clear when he met the All-Pro passer for a handshake after Detroit's 18-16 win over the Packers in Week 10.

"He just told me, when I came and shook his hand, 'Slay, you're one of the young best (corners),'" Slay said, per Justin Rogers of MLive.com. "Oh my goodness, I just got this from Aaron. Woo."

Slay was honed in on Packers wide receiver James Jones throughout game, and Rodgers rarely tested his coverage. Jones was only targeted a couple times, as he was held without a catch for the first time all season.

"I mean, he threw it my way twice and I did what I was supposed to do, I knocked them down," Slay said, via MLive.com. "I had real tight coverage. That's what I do."

Although the Lions are 2-7, there's still some hope for the future in Detroit. Slay, a second-round draft pick out of Mississippi State in 2013, is only 24 years old. He has developed into one of the team's finest defensive players in his third NFL season.

Slay and a handful of other young, promising players will probably remain Lions during the rebuild that's likely to take place this offseason.
