Mets dismiss head of amateur scouting

Published Nov. 20, 2010 12:00 a.m. ET

The New York Mets have dropped their head of amateur scouting.

The Mets said Saturday that Rudy Terrasas could be offered another job with the team. The move is part of new general manager Sandy Alderson's overhaul of the organization.

Terrasas joined the Mets six years ago. He's also worked for Philadelphia, Texas and Milwaukee during more than 25 years in baseball.

Terrasas worked on Omar Minaya's scouting staff while they were together with the Rangers. Minaya was fired as the Mets' GM when the season ended.
