Brantley, Cabrera not in Cleveland lineup

Published Sep. 13, 2012 8:55 p.m. ET

Cleveland center fielder Michael Brantley has been scratched from Thursday night's lineup with a sore left pectoral muscle and shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera will not start for a fourth straight game because of a sore right wrist.

Brantley was originally batting cleanup for the Indians against the Texas Rangers. But Cleveland scratched him after the team took batting practice. Ezequiel Carrera has replaced Brantley in the lineup.

The switch-hitting Cabrera has not tried to bat left-handed. Indians manager Manny Acta says Cabrera will be examined when the team returns to Cleveland on Friday.
