Mularkey trying not to look beyond Week 17

Tennessee Titans interim head coach Mike Mularkey is spending his time preparing for the team's Week 17 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts, but acknowledged he may take a moment to ponder his future beyond Sunday as the game draws near.

Mularkey, who took over for Ken Whisenhunt seven games into the season, has said he'd like to keep the job full time. For now, he's trying to focus on Indianapolis.

Via the Tennessean:

"I’m worried about the Colts right now,” Mularkey said. “Maybe by Saturday, when (the game plan) is in place, you wonder … but we’ll know when this is over with next week.”

Mularkey said he'd like to be afforded more time to make changes his in-season promotion didn't allow.

“I think anybody would tell you yes on that,” he said. “If you had an opportunity to have a year, an offseason, from start to finish, it certainly helps. I’m not sure that one year is enough.”

Whether that happens or not remains to be seen. The Titans are 2-6 under Mularkey thus far.
