Titans RB Antonio Andrews in line for more carries

After establishing career highs in yards and rushing attempts in Sunday's 10-7 loss to the Atlanta Falcons, Tennessee Titans run back Antonio Andrews is likely in line for more work moving forward.

Andrews ran for 57 cards on 10 carries against the Falcons' top-rated run defense, prompting head coach Ken Whisenhunt to acknowledge Monday that the second-year back deserves more of an opportunity.

"I certainly think Antonio deserves more carries, if you look at the way he played and the way he’s run it lately," Whisenhunt said, per the Tennessean. “But let’s not forget, too, he missed a couple weeks of training camp. He missed a couple weeks of the season with a (hamstring) injury. He was largely an unproven commodity coming into this season.

“So what we’ve seen the last couple of weeks is really our first exposure to Antonio in the regular season. It’s definitely a positive.”

The Titans have been using a running back by committee approach up to this point, with Andrews, fellow second-year back Bishop Sankey and veteran Dexter McCluster each seeing carries.

Andrews has run 38 times for 138 yards and two touchdowns this season.
