Manning's agent says Peyton still 'has not decided' on retirement

Peyton Manning continues to keep people guessing about the future of his NFL career.

The 39-year old quarterback has yet to make up his mind about whether to retire or return for at least one more season, according to his agent Tom Condon.

"To tell you the truth, I know that Peyton has not decided," Condon said Wednesday morning on 104.3 The Fan in Denver.

Condon indicated that Manning is hesitant to leave the game that he loves so much and wants to be 100 percent sure before he makes any type of decision.

"The only thing he said is I want to take my time and I want to make a good decision. I don't want to go back on anything," Condon said of what Manning has told him. "And then he said, 'I really like to play.' And I said 'OK, a year from now you'll say I really like to play and 20 years from now, you'll say I really like to play.'"

If Manning decides against retirement, it's highly unlikely that he'll return to the Broncos. According to FOX Sports' Alex Marvez, the Broncos are proceeding with contract negotiations with other players without counting Manning and his $19 million salary on their books for salary cap purposes.

While there would surely be interest in Manning from other teams, the soon-to-be 40-year-old quarterback struggled to manage the Broncos during their improbable Super Bowl run.

"With Peyton, they're looking for somebody that's going to set an example for the rest of the team, who is going to provide leadership and who is going to teach everybody what it takes to be a world-class player," Condon said. "Some teams look at him and say we want him to be a part of our administration. He's going to have a lot of opportunities, and deservedly so."

On the other hand, if Manning does decide to ride off into the sunset and retire, his agent sees a bright future ahead, regardless of what avenue he decides to pursue.

"There isn't anything he can't do," Condon said. "Whether it was politics or broadcasting, or most likely, some place with a club. Whether that's an administration or ownership position, whatever that is."
