Patriots K Stephen Gostkowski: 'I feel like I lost the game'

It's not often that one of the most pivotal plays in a postseason game comes on an extra point attempt with 1:49 remaining in the first quarter. Unfortunately for the New England Patriots, that was just the case.

Stephen Gostkowski, one of the most consistent kickers in the NFL, having made 523 consecutive extra point attempts entering Sunday, missed his first PAT since 2006. It would have tied the game at seven early in the game, but it put the miss put the Patriots in a position they're not accustomed to. 

The game ultimately came down to a two-point conversion attempt in the final seconds of the fourth quarter. Of course, the Patriots fell to the Broncos, 20-18, and Gostkowski feels like the loss is on his shoulders.

Belichick was a supporter of the recent change to a 33-yard extra point attempt, as most people were. It had an impact on games all season, and it certainly had an effect on the outcome of Sunday's loss for New England.

Gostkowski has helped the Patriots win a lot of games in his career and this particular miss shouldn't make him or anyone forget that. He's still crushed about the way the game turned out.

"It's a nightmare scenario," Gostkowski said. "I can't really explain how I feel right now. ... I feel like I let a lot of people down."
