Ravens place Zuttah on IR, starts streak ends at 65

The Baltimore Ravens have placed center Jeremy Zuttah on injured reserve with a partially torn pectoral muscle, ending his run of 65 consecutive starts.

Zuttah might have been able to play with the injury, but the team decided it's best for him to have surgery now.

Coach John Harbaugh says, "They can't say 100 percent that it would heal like they want it to if we took time and waited, so we're going to go ahead and get that done."

Zuttah is in his second year with the Ravens after beginning his career in 2008 with Tampa Bay. His run of successive starts is the fifth-longest streak among active interior linemen.

John Urschel will take over as the starting center, and Ryan Jensen will be the backup.

Zuttah is the 17th player to be placed on injured reserve by the Ravens this season.
