Doug Fister could reportedly rejoin Nationals this week

Hitters beware: The Washington Nationals' rotation might be getting even stronger very soon.

With ace Max Scherzer as good as ever, as he displayed in a 16-strikeout gem over the weekend, Doug Fister is set to rejoin the Nats' pitching staff this week, according to the Washington Post.

Fister, who has been sidelined since May 15 with a strained flexor muscle in his throwing forearm, will soon throw a bullpen session that will help the Nationals decide if he's ready to reunite with the club.

"We have to determine how he comes through throwing the next bullpen and make sure there's no soreness or pain or anything like that," manager Matt Williams said. "All indications are that he's been good, which is a good sign."

The report details that Fister could return to the team as early as Wednesday.
