Daniel Snyder responds to new poll on Redskins nickname

The long-debated argument over whether the Washington Redskins should be forced to change their nickname took a new twist Thursday when a poll came out via The Washington Post that stated that nine in 10 Native Americans are not offended by the team's name.

That surprising result immediately caused uproar on the Internet, but one person who seemed to be surprisingly quiet on the topic was Daniel Snyder.

The Redskins owner finally spoke late Thursday morning, releasing this quick statement to Pro Football Talk:

The statement isn't all that surprising considering Snyder has not only been in favor of keeping the nickname but has been steadfast in his refusal to even consider changing it. To his credit, Snyder has also made donations to help various Native American tribes.

Still, the charitable contributions and Thursday's poll don't change the fact that many still want to see the nickname removed.
