Jameis Winston calls hit from Texans' linebacker 'cheap'
While the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and specifically quarterback Jameis Winston, aren't making excuses after the loss to the Houston Texans, there were still some words to be said.
One thing Winston wanted to make sure to comment on was a late, low hit from Texans linebacker John Simon. The play came in the third quarter of the 19-9 loss and resulted in a flag for unnecessary roughness. According to Aaron Wilson of The Houston Chronicle, Winston called it a "cheap" hit.
“That was cheap, but it’s the game of football,” Winston told The Houston Chronicle. “That guy is going full-speed. He’s trying to make his play as well. I forgive him for that. Logan Mankins had my back, so I let him handle it.”
Winston avoided any injury on the play obviously, but anytime a quarterback gets hit low, it makes fans hold their breath.
