Richard Sherman points to growth in secondary with starters absent
It's not the ideal situation for the Seahawks.
Earl Thomas is slowly working his way back from offseason shoulder surgery, Kam Chancellor is in the midst of a holdout, Richard Sherman missed some time to rest a nagging injury, Will Blackmon has been sidelined due to injury as well.
As such, undrafted second-year man Dion Bailey, third-year players Steven Terrell and DeShawn Shead and rookie Tye Smith have all had plenty of reps in practice and in the preseason.
The Legion of Boom certainly looks a lot different in preseason, but according to Sherman, it's a good thing.
"I think it's given some of the other guys a chance to grow, a chance to play more, to get more plays, to get more experience than they would have if we were practicing," Sherman said, via ESPN Seattle. "Obviously it gives us the chance to rest our legs a little bit."
The Seahawks have usually found a way to develop talent, so it's not a surprise to see positive reviews of their young, but inexperienced players in training camp.
