San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Anquan Boldin became the 13th player in NFL history to reach 1,000 career receptions during Sunday's 32-17 loss at the Detroit Lions.

Boldin caught a five-yard pass from Blaine Gabbert on the game's first play to briefly move into a tie with Hines Ward (1,000) for No. 12 on the all-time list.

“At this point, it doesn’t mean much," Boldin said of the milestone after the game. "I’d rather take the win.”

The 35-year-old Boldin, who entered the contest with 999 receptions, appeared on the way to a huge day after catching three passes on the opening drive. But he finished with five receptions for 27 yards to move into sole possession of the 12th spot.

“I thought we’d come out in the second half and do the same thing,” Boldin said. “I don’t know what happened."

Coincidentally, Boldin made his NFL debut at Detroit on Sept. 7, 2003, and established what still stands as his career high with 217 yards receiving on 10 catches, including a pair of touchdowns.
