This story is a testament to the superstition of athletes and to the indiscriminate palates of young men.

Ronnie Hillman could be in for a big season, but he's just one of the Top 10 Breakout Players for 2013.

This kid, Chris Thompson, is a rookie running back on the Redskins. And he does the oddest thing. Chris Thompson puts candy in his socks.

"I’ve been doing this since high school,” he told Monumental Sports. “I have to have a yellow and a red Starburst, and I eat one before the game and I put the other one in my sock. Yeah, it sounds kinda nasty, but I mean, I’ve done it ever since high school.”

And he eats the sock one. Oh yeah, he eats it.

"At halftime," he said. "It tastes the same."
