The Minnesota Vikings recently concluded their mandatory minicamp. That leaves team with approximately five weeks until it reunites for training camp.

For running back Adrian Peterson, he is taking this time to continue practicing with wide receiver Mike Wallace and running back Jerick McKinnon. The trio is in Houston working out with Peterson’s longtime trainer James Cooper.

After what looked to be a four-hour workout, Peterson posted a photo on Twitter along with the message:

ALL WORK NO PLAY! We had to grind it out today. Hill workout, sand pit and lift! 930am-130.

Peterson described his exercise routine in the following terms:

"[It's] a lot of strength work as well,” Peterson said about his workouts this time of year, via ESPN.com. “I do so much different stuff, whether it’s track workouts, on the field, hill workouts, running three miles, exercise with the full-body workout. Whatever the trainer throws out there in front of us, it’s a challenge. I’m always trying to accomplish that challenge.”

It was reported earlier in February that Peterson wanted to “shock the world” when he returned from a league-mandated suspension stemming from a child abuse case. We’ve seen the running back come a long way since earlier in the offseason. He was reportedly disgruntled with the Vikings and apprehensive about a return to the team. That has now given in to Peterson returning to the Vikings and going through voluntary workouts with his teammates.

Peterson is entering his ninth year with the Vikings and already set his long-term sights on breaking running back Emmitt Smith’s all-time rushing record.

For now, though, it’s probably best Peterson and the gang focus on one season (game) at a time.
