Mark Sanchez caught singing Backstreet Boys at karaoke bar

Quarterback Mark Sanchez has been in the public eye off the field for so many different reasons since joining the NFL that it's hard to keep up.

He grabbed a cheese steak with Eagles fans to celebrate his 28th birthday after leading the Philadelphia Eagles to victory on a Monday night game against the Carolina Panthers last November. While with the New York Jets, Sanchez was famously caught eating a hot dog on the sideline during a game. Unfortunately for Sanchez, his singing skills aren't quite up to par with how the man can throw back food.

Philadelphia radio host Jon Marks shared a video of an animated Sanchez signing his heart out to Backstreet Boys' "I Want It That Way" at Yakitori Boy -- a Japanese pub and karaoke bar in Philadelphia.

Marks revealed that a man that goes by the name Marquis had the initiative to record the vocal train-wreck, but his video was interrupted in the middle of the performance by none other than Sanchez himself. The visibly annoyed Eagles quarterback snatched Marquis' phone away and refused to give it back to him at first.

So I'm going to the bathroom, and...Mark Sanchez is singing... He pulls me over...and we're singing, as you can see in the video, we're singing the Backstreet Boys song. ... So I pull my phone out like "Oh my God, this is a Kodak moment. Let me get this phone out." ... He snatched the phone out of my hand!

Marquis called into Marks' radio show to provide his rendition of the story.

According to Marquis, Sanchez went through a few hoops to confiscate his phone before eventually returning the phone to him as he exited Yakitori Boy. Sanchez must have been distracted because after his initial reaction, he made no effort to see that the video was deleted and now the world will get to see if Sanchez has any potential to enter the music industry when his playing career is over.

If you ask Marquis, any potential signing career for Sanchez has about as much upside as his football career.

"It was awful. ... It was like, 'Stick to football,' but not even that, because he can't do that right either," Marquis said.

Sanchez has made it clear that he expects to be given every opportunity to win the Eagles' starting quarterback job heading into 2015. With Sam Bradford taking his time with his recovery from another torn ACL, Sanchez has taken all of the first team reps in 11-on-11 drills and the majority of first team reps in 7-on-7 drills during OTA practices so far.

Late nights screaming your heart out to the Backstreet Boys at a karaoke bar are probably not the best way to show head coach Chip Kelly that you are dedicated to becoming the best quarterback you can be.
