Jason Pierre-Paul a no show for Monday's voluntary workout, but he wasn't allowed to participate anyway

There's no need to panic about Jason Pierre-Paul's absence from yesterday's voluntary workout. It's obvious that Pierre-Paul desires a long-term contract from the Giants, but this is not by any mean the first sign of a potential contract holdout. Even if he wanted to participate, he would not have been able to join the non-mandatory workout. Because he has yet to sign his one-year franchise tag tender, he has also not signed an injury waiver needed to take part in the workout.

Instead, Pierre-Paul has been intensely training with Michael Alessi, a Florida-based trainer. Because yesterday began with strictly weight room activities, Pierre-Paul has not yet missed any on-field practice time. This is especially important as he and the defense gear up to learn new defensive coordinator Steve Spagunolo's defensive scheme.
