Chicago was shutout for the first time in a long time on Sunday
As bad as the Chicago Bears have been recently, they've always been able to put up a handful of points in a losing effort.
Until this past Sunday, when the Bears lost 26-0 to the Seattle Seahawks.
The Bears hadn't been shutout since 2002, according to Rich Campbell of the Chicago Tribune.
On Dec. 29, 2002, the Bears closed out a 4-12 season with a 15-0 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Then-head coach Dick Jauron would be fired the following season, ushering in the Lovie Smith era in Chicago.
It's still too soon to tell if Chicago's most recent shutout loss will bear a similar fate for current head coach John Fox, who is in his first year with the team after taking over for Marc Trestman.
At least the Bears didn't turn the ball over against the Seahawks. Instead, they became the first team to end every offensive possession of a game with a punt since at least 1980, according to ESPN Stats & Information.
