Chicago Bears QB Jay Cutler's contract named least team-friendly

ESPN NFL Insider Chris Sando ranked all quarterback contracts worth an average of more than $9 million per year and found that Jay Cutler's seven-year, $126.7 million ($54 million guaranteed) deal as the league's worst from the Chicago Bears' perspective. Eighteen quarterback contracts qualified for Sando's ranking.

"Coaches brought in to help Cutler keep getting fired," Sando wrote, according to ESPN's Jeff Dickerson. "Meanwhile, Cutler keeps cashing fat checks. Although the true guarantees in his deal were reasonable on paper, the Bears became accountable for another $25 million after Cutler remained on the roster long enough for injury-only guarantees to become fully guaranteed."

Cutler was signed only 17 months ago. His current contract runs through the 2020 season, but the Bears must start considering new options at quarterback if Cutler is unable to guide the team back to the playoffs under the new regime.
