Reinstated and starting The Astros reinstated Allen (back) from the 10-day injured list Tuesday, Julia Morales of Space City Home Network reports.

Impact It was thought Allen may not return until later in May, but he's set to start at third base and is batting ninth versus the Dodgers on Tuesday. The Infielder was shut down April 20 due to back spasms that had kept him out of the lineup in the few days prior. In part of a corresponding move Tuesday, the Astros placed Yainer Diaz on the 10-day IL with a left oblique strain.

Impact Houston placed Allen on the 10-day injured list April 20 after he experiencing mid-back spasms, but he should be ready to rejoin the big club by the middle of May. He's expected to continue his rehab assignment through the end of the week, though it's unclear whether he'll stick around with Corpus Christi or move to a different affiliate.

Impact Allen had been scheduled to start at shortstop in Saturday's 7-5 loss to the Cardinals before being scratched from the lineup shortly before first pitch when he developed back spasms. The 27-year-old apparently didn't show meaningful improvement after resting up over the last couple of days, so Houston will keep him on the shelf for at least its entire seven-game week to give him extra time off to recover. The Astros called up Braden Shewmake from Triple-A Sugar Land to replace Allen as a utility infielder.
