Sits after three straight starts Celestino is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Astros.
Impact Celestino picked up his third straight start earlier Thursday in the resumption of Wednesday's suspended game, finishing 2-for-4 with a double and a run in the Twins' 11-3 loss to Houston. He'll be on the bench for the series finale and looks set to serve as Minnesota's fourth outfielder moving forward with Alex Kirilloff, Byron Buxton and Max Kepler likely to form the Twins' regular starting trio versus right-handed pitching.

Returns to bench Celestino is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Orioles.
Impact Celestino will retreat to the bench after two straight starts in the outfield, during which he went 3-for-8 with a walk and two runs. With Kyle Garlick (calf) moving to the injured list Monday, the 23-year-old Celestino should have a clearer path to regular playing time against left-handed pitching, though he'll likely find himself on the bench versus righties more often than not.

Joins Opening Day roster The Twins recalled Celestino from Triple-A St. Paul on Thursday.
Impact Despite being optioned to the minors March 31, Celestino will make a surprise return to the big club ahead of Opening Day and will serve as the team's fourth outfielder. He was awarded the role after Brent Rooker was traded to the Padres and after Kyle Garlick was reassigned to St. Paul on Thursday.

Heads to minors Celestino was optioned to Triple-A St. Paul on Thursday, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports.
Impact Celestino hit just .136/.177/.288 in his 23-game debut last season, so he was likely always a long shot to break camp in the majors. He'll wait in Triple-A until an opportunity opens up, a place where he hit .290/.384/.443 in 49 games last season.
MARCH 31, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Optioned to Triple-A Celestino was optioned to Triple-A St. Paul on Saturday, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Impact Celestino had been out of the lineup in four of the last five games while filling a short-side platoon role, and he went just 1-for-11 with a double, a run, an RBI and a walk in six appearances to begin the second half of the year. He could see more consistent at-bats in the minors, while Luis Arraez (knee) was reinstated from the 10-day IL to take his place with the major-league club.

Filling short-side platoon role Celestino will start in center field and bat eighth Tuesday against the Tigers.
Impact Celestino will crack the lineup for the fourth time in eight games and appears to have captured a short-side platoon role in center field. Though he brings solid defense to the position, the rookie hasn't looked MLB ready from an offensive standpoint. Over 60 plate appearances on the season, Celestino is slashing .140/.183/.298.

Slips into reserve role Celestino remains out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers.
Impact After drawing six starts in 14 games following his June 22 call-up from Triple-A St. Paul, Celestino's playing time has fallen by the wayside. He'll be on the bench for the sixth game in a row Sunday, as the Twins have seemingly committed to Max Kepler as their everyday center fielder until Byron Buxton (hand) is ready to return from the injured list.

Slugs pinch-hit homer Celestino came off the bench and provided a solo home run in his lone at-bat during Wednesday's 13-3 loss to the White Sox.
Impact The Twins hold Celestino in high regard mainly for his speed and defense in center field, but he supplied some rare power during his appearance in Wednesday's contest. The 22-year-old still looks like he'll remain in a reserve role while Byron Buxton (hand) is on the shelf; Celestino has made only two starts in the Twins' six games since he was called up from Triple-A St. Paul last week.

Back in big leagues The Twins called up Celestino from Triple-A St. Paul on Tuesday, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.
Impact Celestino played the first 10 games of his big-league career earlier this month but accomplished very little at the plate, slashing .125/.152/.250. He was optioned back to the minors Friday, but he'll be eligible to return just four days later as a replacement for Byron Buxton, who broke his hand Monday in his third game back from the injured list. Celestino will start in center field in Tuesday's game against the Reds, but since he's a right-handed hitter, the 22-year-old may be slated for a short-side platoon role at the position with either Nick Gordon or Max Kepler while Buxton is on the shelf.
JUNE 22, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Optioned off roster Celestino was optioned by the Twins on Friday, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.
Impact Celestino had been on the active roster for most of June. He didn't do much at the plate in his first taste of the majors, hitting .125/.152/.250 in 33 plate appearances. Max Kepler (hamstring) was activated off the injured list in a corresponding move.
