The trade of Roy Hibbert to Denver left Milwaukee with an open roster spot. The Bucks filled that hole Saturday, signing 6-foot-7 forward Axel Toupane to a 10-day contract.

Toupane, 24 and a native of France, has played with Raptors 905 in the NBA D-League the past two years. This season in 28 games he is averaging 16.1 points, 3.9 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.2 steals while shooting 49.5 percent from the field. He also played in the recent D-League All-Star Game.

After playing internationally for Starsbourg IG of the French Pro A League from 2011-15, Toupane, who was undrafted in 2014, signed with the Toronto Raptors in July 2015. After playing 32 games for Raptors 905 in 2015-16, averaging 14.6 points, 5.6 rebounds and 3.6 assists, he was signed by Denver in March to a 10-day contract. He finished out the season with the Nuggets, who signed him to another 10-day deal and eventually a multiyear contract.

With Denver, Toupane played in all 21 games from March 4-April 13, averaging 3.6 points in 14.5 minutes. He posted double-digit points in three games, including 14 at Sacramento. Toupane was waived by the Nuggets before the start of the 2016-17 season.
