The Chiefs' defense won't be very welcoming for Vernon Davis' home debut

Published Nov. 3, 2015 10:55 p.m. ET

The Denver Broncos figure to roll out the welcome wagon for their newly-acquired weapon in Week 10.

That's where the niceties end for Vernon Davis should end. The Chiefs defense he'll be facing is specifically tailored to slow him down.

They've got not one, but two "combination safeties" in Eric Berry and Ron Parker. In the box or in the slot, both can line up across from Davis and shut him down.

They've done it all season long. Kansas City's defense has surrendered a league-low 24 completions to tight ends in 2015. And with a bye week, that ranking will stay put until they play Davis.

Fantasy owners might want to wait until Davis has a better match-up. He only has 18 catches on the season.
