Report: Packers' T.J. Lang to have shoulder surgery

Published Feb. 2, 2016 2:51 p.m. ET

Green Bay Packers right guard T.J. Lang is scheduled to have surgery on his right shoulder on Wednesday, according to ESPN's Rob Demovsky.

Although Lang dealt with injuries to both shoulders during the 2015 season, the report was left open-ended when it came to the possibility of a second surgery on his left shoulder.

Lang's shoulders landed him on the injury report seven times this past season. Still, he managed to start every game except for one. With the entire offensive line banged up, his toughness was key to the unit's stability in 2015.

A former fourth-round draft pick, Lang is entering the final year of his current contract. If his surgery goes well, the 28-year-old guard could come back stronger in 2016 and bolster his value enough to earn another big contract.
