FAA probing Cowboys for use of drones during practices

Published Jun. 30, 2015 4:26 p.m. ET

Maybe the whole use of drones thing wasn't so next level thinking after all. The Federal Aviation Administration is looking into the usage of drones during spring practices for several teams, including the Dallas Cowboys.

According to the law, without a proper waiver from the Federal Aviation Administration, it is illegal to fly the unmanned aircraft for any commercial purpose. The Cowboys are one of several teams who have been operating them to record practices and rookie minicamps without express permission.

The Cowboys may have to start thinking of other ways to get ahead of the game using advancements in technology.
