Lions HC Jim Caldwell on his job security: 'I don't think about it'

How does one handle the stress of being on a hot seat? Detroit Lions head coach Jim Caldwell just ignores it.

After winning two consecutive games, Caldwell laid into a reporter who asked about his job security with the Lions. He accused the reporter of being "fixated" on the issue, according to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press:

You must be fixated on that or something, aren't you? That must be of high importance to you. I don't think about it as much as you do. Seriously. Why even talk about it? What sense does it make? You write what you want to write in that regard.

Caldwell went on to claim that those in the media care more about is job security than he does, via the Free Press:

I don't think about it. Seriously. I don't. I don't talk about it. We do what we do. This is kind of the business that we've chosen, and what happens, happens.

After referring to the Lions' media room as the "Dungeon of Doom" at the team's lowest point, Caldwell has made it clear that he's not a fan of all the negativity. He probably hoped that back-to-back wins would help lighten the mood.

However, after giving Detroit a taste of the playoffs last season, the bar has been raised. A total of three wins is not enough to satisfy the fans. Caldwell will have to get a lot more out of his team in the last six games in order to get public support back on his side.
