Browns place rookies Telfer, Ekpre-Olomu on NFI list

When the Browns finished out their 2015 draft, they knew they were playing the long game.

Rookies Randall Telfer and Ifo Ekpre-Olomu were both placed on the non-football injury list to open camp with injuries suffered in their final collegiate season. Telfer, a sixth-round tight end out of Southern California, had surgery in February to repair a Lisfranc injury, but is hopeful to make it back at some point this season.

The same cannot be said for seventh-round corner Ekpre-Olomu, who is expected to miss the entire season coming off a torn ACL and dislocated knee cap. Ekpre-Olomu was projected to be a first- or second-round pick before the devastating injury sent his draft stock plummeting. Many were surprised the Ekpre-Olomu fell as far as he did in the draft, and it certainly made sense for the Browns to take a flier on a first-round talent with their last pick in the draft at 241st overall.

The Browns made a few other roster moves, placing defensive lineman Tory Slater on the physically unable to perform list and signing offensive lineman Joe Madsen. Madsen has spent time with the Packers, Steelers, and Los Angeles Kiss of the Arena League.
