Yahoo to openly, freely stream NFL game from London

Published Jun. 3, 2015 11:06 a.m. ET

Paywalls be darned. Yahoo wants the entire world to watch live when the Buffalo Bills and Jacksonville Jaguars square off in London on Oct. 25 during the 2015 NFL regular season.

The NFL had previously announced its intentions of a digital-only broadcast for the overseas matchup, though it said local markets would still carry the game.

John Ourand of the Sports Business Journal provided more details:

“Since it’s an AFC game, CBS Sports will handle the game production, providing the announcers and behind-the-camera talent. Yahoo will make the Oct. 25 Bills-Jaguars game available at no extra cost on its properties, like Yahoo, Yahoo Sports, Yahoo Screen and Tumblr.”

Kickoff is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. ET, which is mid-afternoon or later for European countries. Yahoo’s global reach and American football’s growing popularity should make for a well-watched affair.

But don’t forget the most important part of a worldwide stream: Earth will officially be introduced to Rex Ryan.

And for that, NFL, we thank you.
