Titans' Levitre looking to regain old form

After signing a $46.8 million contract with Titans in 2013, guard Andy Levitre struggled through his first two seasons in Tennessee, largely failing to live up to expectations.

The 29-year-old Levitre knows he hasn't given the Titans the kind of play they were looking for when they signed him as a free agent after four seasons with Buffalo Bills. As Levitre is set to begin his third season with the Titans, he said he's focused on regaining the form he showed during his days with the Bills.

"Knowing what I am capable of doing, and knowing I have done it in the past, I want to be able to get back to where I need to be to be successful. And to have that personal accomplishment means more to me than anything, and I think that will show to the coaches and the guys upstairs," Levitre said, via Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean.

"What they saw in me when they brought me in here, I am sure they want to see it now. ... I want to get back to that level just as much as they want to see me do it."

Although Levitre has been durable during his career, never missing a game, he struggled with injury the last two seasons. He had knee surgery following the 2013 season, then dealt with a hip injury that required offseason surgery the following year.  He also had an emergency appendectomy before training camp last season.

This year, however, the seventh-year pro says he's completely healthy entering training camp.

"I think this is the best I have felt since I have been here, health-wise," Levitre said. "I feel like I know where I need to be to be successful and I feel like I know what I need to do to get there. Fighting through the injuries the last few years, I could have worked as hard as I wanted but I felt like my body was trying to run the course of trying to heal up, and now that is in the past."

With the Titans set to report to camp at the end of the month, Levitre said he's optimistic about the outlook for the offensive line.

"I think we have a good core group of guys that are smart and willing to work hard and push each other," Levitre said. "We want to win, and we want to be successful."
