Redskins TE Niles Paul doesn't care about spoiling Game Of Thrones
Washington Redskins tight end Niles Paul is a die-hard Game Of Thrones fan, and he's not the only one in the Redskins' locker room who loves the hit HBO series. Unlike other dedicated fans, Paul has no issue discussing the events of the show filled with twists and turns in every season.
WARNING SPOILERS: If you do not want the happenings on the television show Game Of Thrones to be revealed to you, please do not read any further.
Paul discussed the dynamic of locker room chatter and how it applies to Game Of Thrones with Kevin Clark of the Wall Street Journal.
“If you don’t know that Jon Snow died, if you don’t know what the White Walkers are, that’s not my problem,” Paul said, referencing some major plot points from last seasons's action, per The Wall Street Journal. “It means you aren’t a fan and you don’t watch the show.”
Paul is not joking around, either. He loves debating the season's happenings with teammates, and if someone who is not caught up to the show gets caught in the crossfire, then so be it. According to Clark, running back Silas Redd avoided taking any chances and instead decided to binge watch four or five episodes before the start of training camp.
Teammate Logan Paulsen is around Paul as a fellow tight end. He has his own strategy for dealing with Paul's winded and unfiltered Thrones discussions.
“You just have to make sure you don’t come into a ‘Game of Thrones’ conversation accidentally,” Paulsen said, per Clark.
Paul is less concerned with spoiling the show for others, but that doesn't mean he takes it any less seriously. He joined his teammates in their despair after completing the final scene in the final episode last season.
“When Jon Snow died, we were hurt, very hurt," Paul said. "But I’ve been following the theories on the Internet. They’ve got to bring him back.”
