NFL announces Titans-Dolphins game will be played despite Hurricane Matthew

Published Nov. 15, 2016 2:01 p.m. ET

Earlier this week, the NFL confirmed that the league was considering contingency plans for this weekend's games that could be affected by Hurricane Matthew. On Friday, the league announced that at least one of those matchups will go on as planned.

Sunday's game between the Titans and Dolphins officially will be played at its scheduled time with no need to move the location or time, as first reported by NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

No word yet on whether Monday's game between the Panthers and Buccaneers in Tampa Bay will continue as scheduled.

Much of the east coast of Florida is under a hurricane warning, and residents are being asked to evacuate. According to tracking models, the path of the hurricane will head up the coast of Florida and toward Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina.
