Locked on Chiefs - Matt Derrick & Seth Keysor talk Chiefs moves

PITTSBURGH, PA – OCTOBER 02: Ben Roethlisberger

The Chiefs had a busy day on Monday, trading, signing and sending to IR.

Kansas City traded RB Knile Davis to the Green Bay Packers for a conditional 2018 draft pick. Davis was inactive for the first time this past Sunday against the Raiders. This shows the Chiefs feel great about their RB rotation. Davis was at best their 4th running back and lost his returning duties to Tyreek Hill.

That was not all of the roster maneuvers

Kansas City also made several other roster moves. Allen Bailey and Justin March both went to IR. Nick Williams was released from the roster. The Chiefs brought back Rakeem Nunez-Roches, Terrance Mitchell and Ramik Wilson from the practice squad. All of these moves comes at an interesting time for Kansas City. The release of Nick Williams is surprising as he had been a good all around lineman. RNR and Wilson should be able to step in and help immediately. The other big move Kansas City made was signing DE Kendall Reyes who had previously played for the San Diego Chargers as well as a few other teams.

Tomorrow will bring the first day of practice for the week. It will be interesting to see what the Chiefs do with Justin Houston if they do anything. Houston is now eligible to come off the PUP list and start practicing with the team. If they activate him they have a three week roster exemption for him before he would count against the active roster. It’s doubtful that the Chiefs bring him off the PUP list tomorrow but it is something to watch in the coming days.
