Bears LT Bushrod completes concussion protocol, returns to practice
The Chicago Bears had their starting left tackle back at practice on Wednesday, although only on a limited basis. Jermon Bushrod recently passed the NFL's concussion protocol, according to ESPN's Jeff Dickerson. Bushrod's injury occurred against the Seattle Seahawks on Sept. 27.
Bushrod is glad to be back on the field with his teammates, who have put together a mini winning streak in his absence.
"The last couple of weeks were tough," Bushrod said, per ESPN. "It’s always tough not being out there with your guys. But I’m getting better every single day and that’s all I can ask for. I was able to go out there and do some things today. I felt good just going out there and running around and taking some sets. I’m encouraged right now. But we’re not going to push anything because I don’t look forward to having any more setbacks or things like that."
Reserve offensive lineman Charles Leno Jr. has started at left tackle for the Bears in each of the past two games. He could start a third straight game, if the coaching staff thinks Bushrod would benefit from an extra week of rest.
The Bears have a bye week coming up after this Sunday's clash with the Detroit Lions, so that could be a factor in their decision to either sit or start Bushrod in Week 6.
