Kings' Ty Lawson might have some explaining to do after reportedly missing a team flight
Sacramento Kings point guard Ty Lawson was late to a shootaround in Las Vegas this week and missed a team flight for Saturday's preseason game at the University of Kentucky, according to a report from ESPN's Marc Stein. Lawson is expected to meet with team officials, and his status with the club is uncertain for the future.
Lawson, 28, signed a one-year, non-guaranteed deal with the Kings this offseason, after spending part of last summer undergoing treatment for alcohol addiction at a rehab facility in Malibu, Calif. He has been arrested four separate times for driving under the influence.
Lawson began last season in Houston, and finished it in Indiana after reaching a buyout settlement with the Rockets in March. He had his best statistical season with the Nuggets in 2014, when he averaged 17.6 points and 8.8 assists in 35.8 minutes per contest. By contrast, Lawson averaged just 5.7 points and 3.6 assists in primarily a reserve role last season.
