Giants player tumbles head over heels into camera pit for great catch
Vin Scully was on the mic for his final broadcast Sunday in San Francisco and, thankfully, Giants third baseman Conor Gillespie provided a final superb highlight for the legendary commentator to narrate.
During the third inning of San Francisco's blowout win over the Dodgers, Gillespie tracked a foul ball and made an outstanding grab over by the dugout camera pit. As he leaned over the railing to make the grab, Gillespie tumbled into the pit and fell head over heels to the ground below. The handful of other people in the pit weren't exactly quick on their feet to help soften the fall.
Luckily, he managed to hang onto the baseball and came up no worse for the wear. Additionally, a big ol' camera that got caught in his path also seemed to avoid an expensive casualty, so it was a pretty ideal situation for everyone involved ... except for the Dodgers.
