Pember's 24 lead UNC Asheville past Charleston Southern 60-55 in Big South Conference Tournament
HIGH POINT, N.C. (AP) — Drew Pember scored 24 points, including a 3-pointer with 17.7 seconds left, and No. 2 seed UNC Asheville beat seventh-seeded Charleston Southern 60-55 on Friday night in the Big South Conference Tournament.
Pember also contributed 14 rebounds for the Bulldogs (21-11). Nicholas McMullen scored 10 points while shooting 5 of 7 from the field and added eight rebounds. Josh Banks shot 3 of 11 from the field, including 1 for 5 from 3-point range, and went 2 for 4 from the line to finish with nine points.
Taje' Kelly led the way for the Buccaneers (10-20) with 26 points and nine rebounds. Daren Patrick added 12 points and eight rebounds for Charleston Southern. A'lahn Sumler also had seven points.
UNC Asheville went into the half ahead of Charleston Southern 29-20. Pember scored 13 points in the half. UNC Asheville took the lead for good with 1:49 left in the second half on a 3-pointer from Pember to make it 55-54.
