There’s been a lot of speculation surrounding the future of Washington Wizards forward Paul Pierce. With Pierce opting out of his contract with the Wizards for the 2015-16 season, it’s possible he ends up finishing his career somewhere else.

Could a return to his hometown of Los Angeles be in the cards?

Here’s more from David Aldridge at

"As I reported as likely to happen a couple of weeks ago, Paul Pierce will opt out of his Wizards contract. The expectation among many around the league remains Pierce will wind up in L.A. with the Clippers."

Pierce-to-the-Clippers rumors have been going on since the summer of 2013, when Doc Rivers joined the organization from the Boston Celtics, and they began to heat up again earlier this summer.

The Clippers have a glaring need at small forward after including Matt Barnes in their trade to acquire Lance Stephenson, and given Pierce’s familiarity with Rivers, the pairing makes sense.
