Poor relief outingHernandez allowed two runs on three hits and walk in one-third of an inning in Thursday's 6-0 loss to the White Sox.
ImpactHernandez began the sixth inning, but allowed four of the five batters he faced to get on base. He was done after a two-run single allowed to Adam Eaton, and Josh Staumont went on to pitch 1.2 scoreless innings. Hernandez worked in long relief in his previous outing, earning a win on Opening Day versus the Rangers. The 24-year-old's role hasn't been clearly defined yet, but it appears he's been passed over for a spot in the rotation by Jakob Junis. Without much of a chance of joining the closer conversation, Hernandez will carry minimal fantasy value.

Rough start to seasonBenintendi is hitting just .200 (5-for-25) over the first six games of the season.
ImpactAll five of his hits so far have been singles. He's also drawn two walks and struck out eight times. Benintendi has scored three runs, but he's not getting on base very well (.257) despite consistently hitting second in the order behind Whit Merrifield. The left-handed hitting Benintendi would likely still hold a platoon advantage if his role reduces, but he's struggled to produce a fantasy-relevant stat line through the first week of the season.

Knocks in two runsEaton went 2-for-5 with two RBI in Thursday's 6-0 win over the Royals.
ImpactEaton continues to bat leadoff while Tim Anderson (hamstring) remains on the injured list. He is 3-for-13 in three games in the leadoff role. Reaching base safely in all seven of his games so far, the 32-year-old will receive plenty of scoring opportunities at the top of a dominant lineup.

Reaches base safely four timesMendick went 3-for-3 with three singles and a walk in Thursday's 6-0 win over the Royals.
ImpactThe 27-year-old is filling in nicely for Tim Anderson (hamstring) with four hits and two walks in two games this season. Mendick could earn more playing time even once Leury Garcia (leg) is healthy if he continues to supply offense from the bottom of the lineup.

Continues sizzling startMercedes went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in the 6-0 win Thursday over the Royals.
ImpactMercedes keeps stealing the show in his astonishing and unexpected start to the season. After resting Wednesday, the rookie slammed a 485 foot home run in the first inning off Brad Keller. While Mercedes won't be able to keep up this hitting pace (15-for-27) all season, it is quite the start for a player who wasn't expected to get everyday at-bats.

Yields four runs in lossKeller (0-1) allowed four earned runs on six hits and three walks across 3.1 innings while striking out three to take the loss against the White Sox on Thursday.
ImpactKeller's struggles continued from Opening Day and he's allowed 10 runs in 4.2 innings over two starts. In addition, his command isn't there right now, as he's walked five batters during that stretch. The 25-year-old got shelled Thursday, surrendering home runs to Yermin Mercedes and Yoan Moncada in the first inning. Keller will try to get back on track in his next start against the Angels on Wednesday.
