McKnight's buzzer-beater in OT lifts Sacred Heart over CCSU

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (AP) Quincy McKnight scored six of his 17 points in overtime, including a layup at the buzzer to give Sacred Heart an 80-78 victory over Central Connecticut State on Thursday night.

Cane Broome made a jumper with 1:20 left and the Pioneers led 76-73. The Blue Devils' Austin Nehls missed a 3-point attempt, and Brandon Peel had his putback blocked out of bounds. Peel then passed to Nehls who made a 3-pointer to tie it at 76-all with 45 seconds remaining.

McKnight scored on a layup, Peel answered with a jumper with 31 seconds to go before McKnight sealed it.

Broome had 24 points. Tevin Falzon made 10 of 10 free throws and finished with 20 points, 14 rebounds and four blocks for Sacred Heart (3-13, 2-3 Northeast Conference).

Jahlil Nails scored 18 points and Nehls added 16 to lead Central Connecticut (1-15, 0-5), which has lost seven straight.
