Report: Pierre Thomas leaves Houston without a deal

Published Aug. 6, 2015 1:47 a.m. ET

The Houston Texans brought in veteran running back Pierre Thomas for a visit Wednesday, but according to a report, the two sides failed to reach an agreement on a contract.

According to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle, the Texans offered Thomas a one-year contract for the veteran minimum of $870,000, which Thomas rejected.

The Texans are in search of depth at running back after star Arian Foster injured his groin this week. According to ESPN, Foster is scheduled to undergo surgery on Friday.

The 30-year-old Thomas averaged 4.9 yards-per-carry last season for New Orelans. He was cut by the Saints in March.

The Texans also worked out former Jets running back Joe McKnight, and former Houston practice squad player Ben Malena.
